West Jordan welcomed a new small business to the community in 2015. That business was and is called Y and Y Studio. It’s the pride and joy of mother, Yrma, and daughter, Yatiri. Further, it’s a godsend to local brides in need of the perfect dress for their big day.

It all started many years ago when Yrma was taught by her dear grandmother how to make her own clothes. Since that time, her passion for making clothing has only grown.
In 1994, she became self-employed and officially began her career in the bridal industry. She worked hard alongside the original and former owners of The Brides’ Shop.
Skip ahead to 2015.
Yrma and Yatiri opened their business with the desire to break out of the walls of the traditional retail store “Alterations Department.”
They wanted to make themselves available to everyone, no matter where they bought their gowns from.
They have done just that!
They offer services including pattern-making, custom design and, of course, alterations. Customers can enlist their help not just for weddings, but for a host of other occasions as well.
The ladies know that you want to look your very best whenever you have to dress up. That’s why they are committed to making sure that each customer leaves with a dress they love and that fits just right.
"Yrma made a dress that looked nothing like my dream dress into something better than my dream dress. Her hands are like magic!"
- Taylor J.
How do they ensure this?
At Y and Y Studio, brides have an average of four fittings so that all necessary adjustments can be made.
There are several factors taken into consideration during these fittings. These include personal preferences, the theme and colors of the wedding, bridesmaids dresses, weather conditions, whether the bride will be dancing and so on.

Needless to say, it’s an extensive process. With so much work going into each dress, sometimes Y and Y even sends customers to trustworthy competitors!
That’s certainly not a common practice today. But in either case, Yrma and Yatiri want brides to be in the best hands possible and, ultimately, to be happy with the result.
Reliability and flexibility are key.
There’s no doubt about it. Weddings can be incredibly stressful and time-consuming. What if you don’t have time on your side? No need to worry.
Y and Y Studio is proud to have never missed a deadline. They have worked through the night on several occasions and made unconventional appointment times when necessary to make sure that everything is on schedule.
"I loved working with Yrma for my wedding gown. She was so helpful in helping create my vision and get my dress perfect! There were no corners cut and everything i wanted she was willing to do. Thanks Yrma for all your help in making my day perfect!"
Too, they’ve often come to the rescue after devastating alteration disasters elsewhere. Now, they are trying to make things even simpler by offering online booking, networking with shops that provide materials and so on.
They’re doing all they can to make the process as easy and pleasant as possible.
What’s in store for the future?
Yrma and Yatiri hope to break away from bridal alterations and redesign, for the most part. Instead, they would like to focus on custom design, not just for weddings but also the designing of costumes, pet clothing and more!
They’ve also tossed around the idea of creating a blog to educate brides on the ins and outs of the wedding dress process.
What a helpful resource that would be! Don’t hesitate to visit Y and Y Studio to see how they might be able to serve you.
