Back In 2012, Michelle Kitchen opened Love 2 Learn Academy in Utah. Why? She wanted to provide a beneficial and safe school environment for any and every type of learner.

Michelle’s experience in other educational settings sparked her desire to do this. She wasn't impressed with the one-size-fits-all, detached approach of many traditional schools. So she decided to start her own school. Her goal was to shower each individual child with love and to make each one feel like a capable learner.Michelle Kitchen-879301-edited.jpg

How did she go about realizing this goal?

She decided that smaller class sizes would help. Smaller classes allow for a personalized learning experience so that each child can learn in the way that’s best for them. At Love 2 Learn, teachers don’t just teach. They strive to get to know each child well. This way, they can adjust the curriculum to specific needs.

What do these needs include?

Many traditional schools focus only on academics -- math, English, science, etcetera. While these things are important, they aren’t the only things children need to learn. Michelle recognized this and decided to implement what she calls “whole child education." The education kids receive at Love 2 Learn includes social and emotional skills.

Talk about preparing children to excel! Many parents are thoroughly impressed with the results of this method. One parent commented that besides doing well academically, her son has “really developed socially also.” She added that “the teachers are a huge part of that.” Unlike any other school she's seen, they really take time to work with the kids according to their learning styles.

Parents benefit too. But how?

For one thing, Love 2 Learn gives each parent peace of mind. They can be 100% confident that their child is getting the best education possible. Through the academy app, parents can keep track of lesson summaries and assessments. They can also communicate with teachers and see pictures of what their children are doing. Are there any other benefits of keeping parents involved and in the loop?

Certainly! If necessary, they can work with their children at home. After all, they are kept up to date on all aspects of their child's progress, including weaker areas. The support and involvement of parents makes the learning process more beneficial for kids. And, of course, parents are proud to have a part in their success.

It's not easy...but it's worth it.

Even with small class sizes, a great deal of flexibility is required on the part of all the teachers at the academy. To tailor their teaching styles to each child is no doubt a challenge.

On top of that, keeping class sizes so small comes at a high cost. In fact, several business experts have pressed Michelle, advising her to boost class sizes to make a better profit. What has been her response? She has refused time and time again! This is proof of her dedication to doing what is best for the children under her care...and it’s clear that her way is what’s best for them.

Teachers and students are excited for the future.

The academy’s teachers are thrilled about the many fun themes of the upcoming summer camps and classes. Even beyond that, they are looking ahead to the new school year, for which classes are already filling up.

Love 2 Learn Academy really does foster in kids a love for learning. It’s safe to say, then, that they are looking forward to the fun summer camps and the next school year too. And it’s all thanks to Michelle’s vision, her hard work and the support of the hardworking teachers at her side!
